Leadership Position Descriptions
- Chartered Organization Representative
- Contact between the Pack and the chartered organization.
- Committee Chair
- Supervise Pack Committee operation; preside at Pack Committee meetings;
conduct charter review; draw up schedule; handle registration; establish and
maintain relationship with District Scouting executives; establish new dens as
required; recruit new Den Leaders and Cub Master as required; coordinate with
Den Leaders to ensure that boys advance in rank; coordinate with Cub Master,
other Pack leaders, and activity committees to ensure that the Pack functions
smoothly; complete Leader Basic Training.
- Assistant Committee Chair
- Work with Committee Chair to oversee Pack activities; work towards goal of
becoming Committee Chair; attend monthly Pack Committee meeting; complete
Leader Basic Training.
- Committee Secretary
- Take minutes at monthly Pack Committee meeting; copy and distribute
minutes to Pack leadership.
- Treasurer
- Maintain bank account in the name of the Pack; approve budget
expenditures; pay bills by Pack check; collect dues; keep up-to-date financial
records; attend monthly Pack Committee meeting.
- Advancement Chair
- Have working knowledge of Cub Scout and Webelos advancement requirements;
help plan and conduct advancement recognition ceremonies; coordinate with Boy
Scout Troops for Webelos cross over.
- Awards Chair
- Collect awards cards from Den Leaders for each boy; compile spreadsheet of
awards to be purchased; purchase awards, etc., at Scout Store; attach awards
to cards for distribution at monthly Pack meeting; attach rank/religious
awards to ribbons; prepare rank cards for Den Leader and Cubmaster signature;
prepare Arrow of Light and Pack graduation certificates for Den Leader and
Cubmaster signature; prepare master list for Cubmaster to use at monthly Pack
meeting; prepare spreadsheet for Information Specialist; coordinate with
Advancement Chair for advancement ceremonies.
- Information Specialist
- Maintain Pack information database using PackMaster; update database on a
monthly basis using spreadsheets prepared by Awards Chair; provide Committee
Chair with rechartering report one month prior to recharter.
- Newsletter Editor
- Prepare monthly Pack newsletter using Committee minutes as primary source;
copy newsletter; distribute newsletter at monthly Pack meetings.
- Copying
- Assist with copying and distributing information as needed.
- Volunteer Chair
- Work with Committee Chair to recruit parent volunteers to lead Pack
activities; work with activity committees to ensure that the activities are
planned as needed; maintain volunteer list; prepare and mail letters to be
sent to activity volunteers.
- Cubmaster
- Conduct Pack program according to the policies of the BSA; complete Leader
Basic Training; plan and help carry out the program in the Pack, including
monthly Pack meetings with the help of other leaders; participate in special
events; guide and support den leaders; see that they receive proper training
for their position; help establish & maintain good relationships with Boy
Scout Troops; maintain good relationships with parents; see that the Cub
Scouts receive a quality, year-round program filled with fun and activities
and qualify the dens and Pack for the National Summertime Pack Award; assist
the Committee Chair as needed; recruit den chiefs, as requested; conduct
graduation ceremonies; work with other adult leaders to make sure that the den
and Pack is functioning well; attend the monthly Pack committee meetings.
- Assistant Cubmaster
- Assist the Cubmaster as needed; complete Leader Basic Training;
participate in Pack meetings; assist in Pack activities; attend monthly Pack
Committee meeting.
- Den Leader Coach
- We need a DL Coach for each Cub Scout year. Give continuing support and
help to den leaders; encourage den leaders to attend basic training; serve as
the communictions link between the Pack Committee and the dens; attend monthly
Pack Committee meeting; complete Leader Basic Training.
- Den Leader
- Work with other den and Pack leaders to ensure his/her den is an active
and successful part of the Pack; plan, prepare for, and conduct den meetings
with the Assistant Den Leader; attend monthly Pack Committee meeting; attend
Pack meetings; complete Leader Basic Training.
- Assistant Den Leader
- Assist the den leader as needed; be ready to fill in for the den leader if
needed; complete Leader Basic Training; attend Pack meetings and assist as
needed.
